Best Buy Co. is slated to open one of the retailer's mobile concept stores todayi(Wednesday) at HarMar Mall, 2100 N. Snelling Ave.
The grand opening of the Roseville store will be Best Buy's 400th mobile shop in the U.S., now giving it 15 of the smaller footprint specialty stores in Minnesota. Currently, other Best Buy Mobile stores in Minnesota include ones at the Burnsville Center in Burnsville, Eden Prairie Center in Eden Prairie and Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka.
The new Best Buy Mobile stores average 1,800 square feet and are staffed by non-commissioned employees, including mobile service and repair technicians, the company said.
The mobile store chain offers customers a one-stop-shop for their technology needs, including mobile phones, tablets, eReaders, MP3 players and accessories, Best Buy officials said.
With the traditional holiday retail season starting Friday, the Best Buy Mobile specialty store chain is bigger than J Crew (361), Trader Joes (376) and Urban Outfitters (381), according to officials for the Richfield-based conumer electronics retailer.
According to the Consumer Electronics Association’s holiday purchase patterns study, 29 percent of shoppers expect to buy a smartphone as a gift this year and the top two items on consumers’ gift lists are smartphones and tablets, Best Buy said.
Meanwhile, Best Buy said it has teamed with the GRAMMY Foundation to support music education in local community schools. As a part of the Roseville grand opening, $2,000 will be donated to Roseville Area High School, the company said.
