"It is a just a great feeling to be here," Massage Xcape owner Sam Beard said during the grand-opening ceremony.
Beard; who also owns other businesses, including a Chem-Dry carpet-cleaning franchise; said Massage Xcape is meant to have a cozy atmosphere in offering a massage therapy.
Beard said his new shop has been open since early December and has done well, attracting some 200 customers. If the business continues to do well, Beard said he would like to open at least five shops in the Twin Cities and use the metro as a base to build the buiness into a franchise operation.
Beard said he envisions offering Massage Xcape franchises for around $30,000, a fraction of the cost of some larger competitors in the field.
The new shop, 1767 Lexington Ave., is about 1,400 square feet. It is offering grand opening specials, promotions and raffle options Thursday through Sunday, Jan. 20, according to officials at Paster Enterprises, the owner and manager of Lexington Plaza Shoppes.
