Roseville chiropractor Dr. Scott Halida flew out on Thursday, Aug. 2 on one of the biggest trips of his life: He has been serving on the U.S. medical team that is assisting various American athletes and teams attending the summer Olympics in London.
"I'm totally excited," said Halida, who has been a chiropractor for 13 years and practices at the Bandana Chiropractic & Wellness Center. "That (going to the games) is just starting to sink in now," he said in an interview late last week.
Halida, 43, said he doesn't know all of his Olympic assignments, but has been told he will probably be working with the U.S. wrestling, track and field and volleyball teams.
Halida said that he and other chiropractic doctors were chosen to be a part of the U.S. Olympic medical team based on their level of certifications. He said is part of the chiropractic movement that is emphasizing people proactively manage their health. "We want to change the way people view and manage their health," Halida said.
Aside from assisting U.S. athletes, Halida said he expects one of the challenges of the summer Olympics will be simply navigating his way around London.
However, Halida is no stranger to England. He lived north of London in the late 1980s when he was attending a college there.
A native of southeast Wisconsin, Halida is married (Jill) and has three children and one grandson.
