Roseville Resident: Fatal Bus Crash 'Shook the House and the Windows'

The Roseville school bus crash left one dead.

When a school bus slammed into an SUV a little after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday a collision that left a 65-year-old Roseville man dead, Earl Westlund of 904 County Road B2 awoke with a shock.

“I heard a loud crash,” Westlund said. “It shook the house and the windows a little bit.”

Westlund said he jumped out of bed, looked out his window and dialed 911.

“Steam was coming from the small car because the front end was pushed in,” he said, “and the bus driver was out looking to see who was in the car.”

The driver of the SUV crossed the center line, hitting the school bus, which carried no children.

Police said the preliminary investigation didn’t indicate alcohol or speed as a contributing factor in the crash and Kare 11 is reporting that a medical situation may have caused the driver to cross the center line.

Westlund watched medics try to revive the Roseville SUV driver.

“They were doing resuscitation and then they stopped,” he said. “There was no sign of life.”
