VFW Post 7555, Grumpy's In Running for Best Place To Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Roseville

Polls close at 9 p.m. Thursday for second Readers' Choice award contest.

There are just two more days until the polls close for our second Patch Readers' Choice contest-Best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Roseville.

This week's poll for St. Patrick's Day is open through 9 p.m. Thursday, March 15. We will announce the winner on Friday, March 16.

(Last Friday, Roseville Patch declared Cafe Zia as the Best Coffee Shop in Roseville, capturing 69 percent of 202 votes cast). Every week or two, we will spotlight a specific type of business or service that will allow Patch readers to vote for their favorite business or service provider.

Among the contenders for best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Roseville are Roseville VFW Post 7555 and Grumpy's Bar and Grill.

Grumpy's festivities for St. Patrick's Day include the Minneapolis Pipes and Drums Band performing at 5 p.m. Meanwhile the restaurant wil be serving Irish fare including Guiness stew and soda bread and corned beef and cabbage.

Dawn Kuehl, director of events for Grumpy's Rose Vine Hall, said the St. Patty's Day celebration should be especially big because the green celebration is falling on a weekend this year.

Meanwhile, Roseville VFW Post 7555 will be serving corned beef and cabbage and reuben sandwiches starting at 11 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day. It will also be holding a "pot of gold" contest, best Irish look contest and a meat raffle. The club will also be selling George Killian's Irish red beer.

Last year, VFW Post 7555 served about 250 plates of food on St. Patrick's Day, said club manager Marianne Gordon. The Post's St. Patrick's Day festivities go back at least 17 years, she said.

Meanwhile, other St. Patrick's Day contenders in Roseville nclude:

Applebee's

Courtyard by Marriott, Charley's Restaurant
