They're Regional Emmy Winners!
Students, staff at Roseville's Parkview Center School star in award-winning video guide to school recycling.
The District 623 School Board Tuesday honored students and staff from Roseville’s Parkview Center School who starred in a video that has won a 2011 Upper Midwest Region Emmy Award.
Hayden Prenzlow, Tori Koos, Dustin Wolfe and their dean of student services, Jake Von De Linde, were recognized for their work on “Boxes, Bottles and Banana Peels: A Guide to School Recycling.” The video won first place in the “Education/Schools – Program/Special Series” category of the Regional Emmy Award competition of the Upper Midwest Chapter of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
The video highlights the success of Parkview Center’s “Green Team” and how it has reduced costs in increasing the amount it recycles. The students explain the nuts and bolts of the program and how they separate and collect traditional recyclables such as boxes and bottles, as well as food leftovers that are recycled by a local farmer.

“It was an amazing experience,” said Prenzlow, who was a student at Parkview when the video was produced but now goes to Roseville Area High School. “We got to show the kids at Parkview the importance of recycling.”
Koos and Wolfe are eighth graders at Parkview.

“Our students loved being a part of this video – they felt like stars, said Von De Linde. “We watch the video several times during the school year and our teachers appreciate having it to review our recycling practices with students.”
The video was initiated and funded by St. Paul-Ramsey County Public Health, produced by the City of Roseville, and filmed and edited by CTV North Suburbs.
