While Roseville residents of Mackubin Street were enjoying the fireworks over the Fourth of July, burglars were having a fire sale.
The street saw nine burglaries the day of the Fourth with an additional incident on July 5.
Roseville Patch asked the Roseville Police Department for more specifics and see if any motive has been identified for the crimes. Here is what police officials told us:
"There is no active investigation with all the burglaries. They were all from garages where doors and vehicles were unlocked. In some cases nothing was taken. We have no idea why Mackubin was targeted. It seems like a crime of opportunity more than anything else."

It would be interesting to know (from the police dept) how many burglaries are crimes of opportunity. That is, how many of them result from someone leaving a car/garage/house unlocked. And what percent involve actual breaking and entering? Can someone from the PD enlighten us?

Good question Twilight. We'll pose the question to our Roseville PD to see if they have an estimate.
