Within the last few days, the Roseville hospitality community unexpectedly lost a
stellar industry executive.
Kathleen (Kathy) Tomlinson, age 67, was general manager of the Holiday Inn Express located on 2715 Long Lake Road in Roseville and employeed by the hotel ever since it opened in the early 1970’s.
Her death was a shock and her mark on the Holiday Inn Express will never be forgotten.
In the words of former Holiday Inn sales manager Leslie Berry, now Client Relations Supervisor for the Continuing Education and Conference Center University of Minnesota, “She was the hotel. Kathy was a gem.
She taught me so much about the hotel business and how to build sales accounts
for the property when I worked there.”
Leslie also went on to say, “Kathy was totally dedicated to the hotel and great at customer service. She had guests that loved her and always stopped by her office to catch up. She offered great support to her hotel family and had a sparkling sense of humor. In addition to Colby, her grandson, who was the shining star in her life, she was also a great mom to her three children. Kathy will always be a part of me - she was a wonderful teacher, coworker and friend.”
The feeling is felt by everyone who knew her.
‘Kathy was one of the very first people to welcome me to the community when I started working here 12 years ago,” Carrie Donovan, director of sales and marketing for the Roseville Visitors Association, remembers. “She
said if I ever had and questions or needed assistance I should give her a call.
She was always cheerful, had a great attitude about life and there was nothing
she loved more than talking about her grandson Colby. She was never shy about
showing off his current photo’s either.”
She is survived by her children, Ann Pesch (Jeff Boettcher),
Paul (Jessica) Creuzer, and Michael Creuzer (Andrea Bucci); and beloved grandson, Colby Boettcher; brother, Gerald (Linda) Monahan.
Her service was held in Anoka on Thursday evening, April 12,2012.
