Join Us for the Great Gatsby Gala February 1
Join the Friends of the Ramsey County Libraries for our Great
Gatsby Gala being held at the Roseville Library at 2180 Hamline Avenue
North on Saturday, February 1, 2014. The event will run from 6:30-9:00pm and include Roaring '20s
music, food, wine, a silent auction, a live auction, games and even
some dancing! Kerri Miller from Minnesota Public Radio will emcee the
program.
Costumes are encouraged and the Friends are selling beautiful flapper
headbands and Gatsby-era fedoras for men before and during the event.
Prizes will be awarded for the best 1920s attire.
Gala tickets are on sale now and may be purchased here online. Go to the Friends home page at www.rclreads.org/about/friends-library,

Gala tickets, flapper headbands and men's hats may also be purchased
in the libraries throughout January at the following times and
locations:
- Thursday, January 9 from 12:00-2:00pm at RCL - Roseville
- Saturday, January 11 from 12:00-2:00pm at RCL - Shoreview
- Saturday, January 18 from 12:00-2:00pm at RCL - Roseville
- Saturday, January 25 from 12:00-2:00pm at RCL - Maplewood
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to add 1,000 items to the lending
collection of the Ramsey County Libraries located in Roseville,
Maplewood, Shoreview,
Mounds View, New Brighton, North St. Paul, and White Bear Lake. In
2000, the Ramsey County Library's collection budget was $1.3 million.
For 2014, it is only $850,000. Library patrons continue to request
items in multiple formats including print copies, large print books,
e-books, and talking books. This is expensive. The Friends want to
help the library add to the collection with funds raised at this event.
