MnDOT Urges Caution for Driving Monday Morning Commute

As snowfall continued throughout the Twin Cities metro  area Sunday (Dec. 9), the Minnesota Department of Transportation is urging motorists to travel with caution during their Monday (Dec. 10) morning commute.

MnDOT Maintenance reported that the metro area has received between 10 and 15 inches of snow since very early Sunday. "The area’s highways are passable and in overall fair condition but may be snow-covered and slushy in areas," the agency said in a press statement.

The agency continued:

"As snow is predicted to continue into the early morning hours of Dec. 10, MnDOT anticipates travel to be slow for the morning rush hour due to compaction and slippery spots."

Crews will continue snow and ice operations throughout the overnight hours.

MnDOT reminds motorists to allow for extra time during their commutes and to drive for the conditions as crews continue snow and ice cleanup."
