The 1991 Halloween Snowstorm in Roseville: What Do You Remember?
That night, Mother Nature played a big trick on us.
With the weather forecast tonight for a somewhat brisk but beautiful Halloween, is it hard to imagine that 20 years today the Twin Cities got pelted with a snowstorm.
And that snowstorm was a whopper! As I recall, the snow was there to stay for the remainder of the fall and on into the winter.
The day and night of Oct. 31, 1991, saw 8 inches of snow. During the next three days, that total rose to 28.4 inches—a record for any Minnesota snow storm, in any month.

Halloween night, 1991 was no time for trick or treats. Fortunately, my family attended an indoor party at a St. Paul church that night. My seven-year-old son was dressed as a pirate; my daugheter came in a home-made pumpkin costume.
Still, I recall, even the indoor party was cut short as nervous parents packed up their kids early to make sure their cars wouldn't get stuck out on the roads in heading back to their homes.
