With temperatures hitting the 60s this week, the unseasonably warm weather has extended fall and put winter at bay.
So what's a winter enthusiast to do?
Well, for Roseville ice skaters, there's a a facility right in town: the Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL , 2661 Civic Center Drive. Boasting North America's largest sheet of refrigerated ice, the OVAL will have open skating these hours over the Thanksgiving weekend:
Thursday, Nov. 22: 5 to 8 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 23: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m.
Saturday , Nov. 24: noon to 2 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 25: noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. General admission is $5.50 per person.
Here are some fun facts about the OVAL:
- The 110,000 square-foot OVAL is the largest refrigerated ice surface in North America with four hockey rinks surrounded by a 400-meter track.
- The OVAL's cooling system includes more than 800 tons of refrigeration and 84 miles of underground piping that helps maintain world-class ice, even when temperatures climb into the 50s.
