Where Can You Skate When It's 60 Degrees?

For people in Roseville, this place is close at hand.

With temperatures hitting the 60s this week, the unseasonably warm weather has extended fall and put winter at bay.

So what's a winter enthusiast to do?

Well, for Roseville ice skaters, there's a a facility right in town: the Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL , 2661 Civic Center Drive. Boasting North America's largest sheet of refrigerated ice, the OVAL will have open skating these hours over the Thanksgiving weekend:

Thursday, Nov. 22: 5 to 8 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 23: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.  and 8 to 10 p.m.

Saturday , Nov. 24: noon to 2 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 25: noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. General admission is $5.50 per person.

Here are some fun facts about the OVAL:

  • The 110,000 square-foot OVAL is the largest refrigerated ice surface in North America with four hockey rinks surrounded by a 400-meter track.
  • The OVAL's cooling system includes more than 800 tons of refrigeration and 84 miles of underground piping that helps maintain world-class ice, even when temperatures climb into the 50s.
