It's Adios to Roseville Don Pablo's; Hello Walgreens

The Mexican restaurant closed this week. Walgreens has plans for the site.

The Don Pablo's restaurant in Roseville has said "Adios."

The Mexican eatery, 2700 Lincoln Drive, closed late Tuesday and workers were busy today (Thursday afternoon) hauling away the restaurant's outdoor building.

An official at the Roseville Don Pablo's  said the company would continue to operate at its three current Twin Cities locations (Maple Grove, Eden Prairie and Richfield). But he had no information on whether the company intends to replace the Roseville location and referred Patch to Don Pablo's marketing department. Marketing representatives could not be reached for comment.

Meanwhile, a Roseville city official said today that Walgreens plans to relocate its drugstore at  1611 County Road C W (near the Byerly's supermarket) to the Don Pablo's site.

The company has applied for a building permit to knock down the Don Pablo's building and replace it with a new 14,800 square-foot Walgreens that would include a drive-through pharmacy, said Pat Trudgeon, Roseville city community development director.

Trudgeon said he expects Walgreens to begin construction some time this spring.

Robert Elfinger, a Walgreens spokesman, said the company's store at Rosedale Square is about 11,000 square feet. He had no details, at this point, on the company's plans for the new Roseville store.
