Joe Senser's Sports Grill & Bar Among Locations for Pub Trivia Contest

Joe Senser's Sports Grill & Bar in Roseville will be among 24 Twin Cities pubs hosting the "Sassy Lassy Pub Trivia" Contest.

The challenge kicks off at 7 p.m. Sunday (April 14) at Senser's. Up to five teams will be particpating in the recreational event, competing weekly for a $50 bar tab and Newcastle prizes..  

In a press statement, organizers said Sassy Lassy Pub Trivia raises the “bar” on the traditional, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for trivia enthusiasts. Created in 2010 by Ireland native John Cosgrove, the “Godfather” of pub trivia in the Twin Cities, Sassy Lassy is not your average game and certainly not for “trivia purists.”

The press release noted, "Cosgrove started what would become a trivia industry years ago in Kieran's, a pub owned then by 2 Gingers Whiskey visionary and fellow Irishman, Kieran Folliard - a friendship that continues today.  Wit and humor go a long way – points are awarded for the clever as well as the correct. 

"Sassy Lassy was created to cater to the other 99 percent of us who don't base our value on knowledge alone,” Cosgrove explained. “In life it is way more important to be funny than to be right.  Ask anyone if they were ever attracted to someone with a strong sense of being right?"

There are 24 participating pubs in the contest.

"Events occur weekly throughout the region featuring pop-culture questions customized for the audience and pub. Major bonus: you’ll find drink specials at participating pubs.

Adding to its already special style of trivia, Sassy Lassy uses technology to connect with the crowd. Hosts use a tablet to deliver questions and keep score; teams use mobile application to submit answers via a smart phone. The app is the first of its kind and not only makes the game run seamlessly; it keeps track of teams, weekly scores, averages, and winning answers.

You can play Sassy Lassy Trivia at any of the 24 participating Twin Cities pubs, secure your spot among the top 32 teams,  and compete at the No Bollocks Final on Wednesday, May 22 at Brit’s Pub in Minneapolis. The winning team takes home a trophy, bragging rights, a $500 grand prize, and a new reputation.
