Roseville Business Supporting Alzheimer's Research

Alzheimer's Speaks, a provider of Alzhimer's resources and information, helped to organize a fundraiser last Thursday to support research projects of the HealthPartners Center for Memory & Aging.

When some 450 people attended a community fundraiser for HealthPartners Center for Memory & Aging, a Roseville business was among the key sponsors of the event.
ACR Homes and Arthur's Residential Care was a benefactor sponsor for the event,   whose organizers included Alzheimer's Speaks, an online provider of dementia resources and information.
Currently, the Memory & Aging center is undertaking tests on an experimental intranasal insulin treatment for Alzheimer's, with the experimental treatment showing signs of improving memory and slowing down memory loss in Alzheimer's victims.
Here's what Deb Nygaard, director of development at ACR HealthCare Group / Arthur's Residential Care, had to say about her business' support of the Center's Alzheimer's research:

"Jim and Dorothy Nelson are the owners of ACR Homes and Arthur's Residential Care.  They have provided care for people with disabilities, Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia for over 30 years, and currently have 54 homes throughout the Twin Cities, employing about 900 people.
They have alway been passionate about caring for people with disabilities, and when Jim's dad, Arthur, developed memory loss, they cared for him too.  Arthur's Residential Care homes are a tribute to Jim's dad.
Now Supporting Alzheimer's research

Now Jim and Dorothy are funding a matching-grant research project through HealthPartners Center for Memory & Aging.
This study will measure the effect of the intra-nasal delivery method of insulin on patients who have Down Syndrome and are exhibiting signs of Alzheimer's.  The hope is that the findings of this preliminary study will lead to grants for further funding for this type of research."
