The National Retail Federation estimates that up to 147 million people plan to shop Black Friday weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
The breakdown: 71 million said they would shop and another 76 million said they would wait and see what retailers have in-store for the weekend according to a preliminary survey, the retail trade association said.
In Roseville, scores of people were among the early-bird Black Friday shoppers as they braved the cold awaiting the opening of such major retailers like Target, Best Buy and Kohl's.
For example, Leslie Lucht, of St. Paul, told the Pioneer Press he stood in line starting at 6 a.m. Thursday waiting for the Roseville Best Buy to open at midnight. Lucht scored a 55-inch HD TV.
Meanwhile, Rosedale Center opened at midnight with 55 retailers getting an early jump on Black Friday.
