Laptop with Sensitive Medical Photos Stolen From Car

The incident occurred earlier this month in Roseville's Central Park.

Roseville Police said a laptop computer containing photos of crime scenes and dead bodies was stolen earlier this month from a medical examiner investigator, the Pioneer Press is reporting.

The personal Toshiba laptop belongs to 25-year-old Navid Amini, a medical examiner investigator for Regina Medical Center, home to the Minnesota Regional medical examiner's office, which conducts medical exams in Dakota, Chisago and Goodhue counties, the newspaper said.

Roseville Police said Amini's laptop was stolen from his Toyota Rav4 when his car was parked in the city's Central Park parking lot on Aug. 8.  To read the full Pioneer Press report click here.

Meanwhile, the laptop computer theft highlights the need for residents to not leave valuables in their cars.

"Thefts from autos is an ongoing problem in all urban environments,'' Corey Yunke, Roseville police community coordinator, told Roseville Patch.

In a crime alert last month, Roseville Police said that keys, cell phones, laptops and MP3 are among items very susceptible to auto theft.
