The Sierra Club North Star chapter recently presented state Rep. Alice Hausman, DFL-District 66A, with its 2012 Legislative Leadership Award.

The award recognizes outstanding work by elected officials who demonstrate a high level of commitment and effectiveness in support of Minnesota’s environment, according to the North Star chapter. Hausman was one of three legislators selected for recognition this year.

Hausman was selected "because she is staunch opponent of sulfide mining," according to Sierra Club officials. "She also has been a longtime champion of efforts to restore wetlands, improve transit options, invest in parks and trails, and protect clean water."
