Roseville High's Peggy Finnegan Named Teacher of the Year By Tech Educators Group

The RAHS Industrial Technology Department also received the Program of Excellence Award from the Minnesota Technology and Engineering Educators Association.

The Minnesota Technology and Engineering Educators Association (MTEEA) has named Roseville Area High School instructor Peggy Finnegan as Teacher of the Year. 

The educators' group made the announcement recently at its annual banquet where it also honored Roseville High's Industrial Technology Department with a Program of Excellence Award. 

A leader and staff mentor in the world of online learning, Finnegan has taught  photography and graphic design at Roseville Area High School (RAHS) since 1998.

“The Teacher of the Year award, without a doubt, is representative of every member of the Roseville Industrial Technology Department teaching staff,” Finnegan said in a statement. “It is each teacher's contribution to this department that makes our program outstanding and relevant to the needs of students and industry.“

Finnegan credited the honors to "the positive program support from our administration, school board, and community.”

The RAHS Industrial Technology Department is now eligible for the Program Excellence Award by the International Technology Education Association (ITEA).  The national program award will be handed out by the ITEA next spring in Orlando, Florida.

District 623 officials said RAHS's Industrial Technology Department is known for running a progressive program that provides hands-on learning for students. Areas of course study include media arts, civil and mechanical engineering, small engines and auto mechanics. 

Besides Finnegan, other members of the department include Jeff Davies, Brian Hoag, Jacob Krautkremer, Todd Lieser and Ken Sopcinski.
