Roseville Area High School (RAHS) will present “The Awesome 80s Prom,” an irreverent, interactive theater experience, on Jan. 24 – 27, at the high school’s Nielsen Performing Arts Center.

“The Awesome 80s Prom” is structured in the style of “Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding,” the nationally known production that invites audience members to become part of the play.

The setting is Wanaget High School’s senior prom, featuring all the stereotypical (and sometimes politically incorrect) high school students: the narcissistic captain of the football team, the awkward foreign exchange student, the geek, and the hottie cheerleader, among others.

This colorful cast of characters is competing for Prom King and Queen, with the audience deciding the winners, while enjoying the infectious, upbeat music and dancing of the 80s.

The “Awesome 80s Prom” will run Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 24 – 26, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m.

Reserved seat tickets are $10 per person (or $50 for a table seating six to eight). Reservations are recommended for table seating. General admission seating, which can be purchased at performance time, is $5.

“This is a great play to attend with friends to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, reconnect with high school classmates, or simply ring in the New Year with your relatives and friends,” said Michael Sheeks, director of “The Awesome 80s Prom.”

A special Senior Matinee will be presented on Wednesday, January 23, at 1 p.m. This performance is free for area seniors, but reservations are recommended.

Online reservations can be made at www.rahsdrama.net or call 651-604-1481. Roseville Area High School is located at 1240 County Road B2 West, Roseville.
