Red Bull Crashed Ice is bigger than ever this year expanding to five stops around the globe. The U.S. race in Saint Paul on Jan. 24-26 will be the most technical track in the sport's history.

Athletes, from a variety of disciplines including hockey, downhill skiing, speed skating and boardercross, will qualify to duke it out down an intimidating track in full ice cross downhill gear.

Competitors will race on a simulated track to qualify. During the main event at the end of January, the competitors will race up to 40 mph down steep ice canals with jumps, obstacles and hairpin bends – until the first two cross the finish line and advance to the next round.

This bracketed madness will continue until the final chapter when the four remaining competitors race to the bottom to crown the champ.

The best score will be used to identify the best of the best, which will produce the final list of participants for the U.S. finale event in Saint Paul, MN Jan. 24-26.
