Then comes the time for the return of the outdoor Skate Park.

Editor's note: The following item has appeared in the city of Roseville e-mail newsletter:

Trade in your ice skates for inline skates, skateboards and bikes. Ice skating at the John Rose OVAL will end Sunday (March 3) and the Skate Park will open May 6.

Turning the Minnesota OVAL’s refrigerated ice sheet into Minnesota’s largest outdoor skate park is no easy task. The OVAL’s cooling equipment will be shut off March 3. Compressors will be “pumped down” and workers will begin to remove the ice.

Once the ice is cleared and the area dried, skate park equipment will be brought out of storage and workers will assemble more than 25 ramps and jumps into a top-of-the-line skating park for skateboards, bikes and inline skates.

Inline skating and use of the skate park is free.
