How to Get Involved in River Cleanup in Minnesota

Help "cleanup Minnesota's shoreline" through the Adopt-a-River program.

Are you or your organization looking for a way to give back to the community?

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources offers an Adopt-a-River program help keep the shorelines along rivers in Minnesota clean.

Here are a few things to know about the program and how to get involved:

  • Individuals, families, students, services groups, businesses and others can get involved.
  • Participants can receive a free cleanup/organizing kit, bags, gloves and other support, according to the DNR website, including how to document your cleanup efforts.

Since 1989, volunteers have removed more than 76 millions pounds have been removed from Minnesota’s public waters, according to the Minnesota DNR.
