Sundeen Named Insurance Agent of the Year

The Roseville resident is a vice-president of Maguire Agency.

The Minnesota Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers (MIIAB) has named Matt Sundeen,  Maguire Agency’s vice president of sales and commercial lines producer, as Agent of the Year for 2013.  "Sundeen was chosen for his commitment to the industry, to clients and to the community," according to a press statement. “Matt approaches everything in life with enthusiasm and dedication,” said Matt Clysdale,  president of Maguire. That “benefits our agency, clients, the insurance industry and the local community, where he devotes considerable volunteer time. Meet First Store Manager for New Roseville Wal-Mart

Lopez 11-year veteran of the discount retailer.

Ron Lopez, an 11-year veteran of Wal-Mart Stores, will serve as the first manager of the discounter's new Roseville supercenter when it debuts in about a year "It is really exciting to join the group here in Roseville," said Lopez, who is now manager of Wal-Mart's store in St. Anthony Village. "Coming into a new facility is something to look forward to."  Lopez added he is looking forward to "getting to know the community. We try to be a good community partner  and that is what I want to establish in Roseville."  The 150,000 square-foot Roseville store will be built on a 14-acre site at the northeast corner of County Road C and Cleveland Avenue. Will Apple Store Be Taking Bigger Bite out of Rosedale Space?

Move would be to accommodate serving the store's larger number of customers.

Is Apple planning to take a bigger bite out of Rosedale Center and relocate its existing store at the Roseville mall into larger quarters? That's the story being reported by the St.Paul Pioneer Press.   "Apple hasn't confirmed a Rosedale-store move and expansion, but a source says the bigger store will occupy a space across from the existing outlet," writes Pioneer Press reporter Julio Ojeda-Zapata. "That new space, vacated by three smaller stores, is now boarded up." Contacted by Roseville Patch today (Monday), Rosedale senior marketing manager Elisabeth Ostrander said, "At this time I have no further info on Apple." Funeral Service Today for 85-Year-Old Mary Lou Christofore

Memorial service scheduled at 10 a.m. at St. Rosa of Lima Catholic church.

Funeral services for Mary Lou Christofore, of Roseville, will be held at 10 a.m. today (Monday) at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2048 N. Hamline Ave., Roseville. Christofore, 85, died on May 13.  She "was an active volunteer and enjoyed tennis and longblading into her late 70s," according to her obituary. "A good friend to all who had the joy of knowing her and will be so missed!" Visitation precedes the funeral from 9 to 10 a.m.  today at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Christofore was preceded in death by husband Michael J.; sisters, Lucille LaBore and Ruth Hansen; infant daughter, Mary Beth; and infant great-granddaughter, Angelique. West-Bound I-694 Ramp at Lexington Avenue Closing Today

The MnDOT expects to reopen the ramp later this fall.

The Roseville office of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) said the ramp from Lexington Avenue to westbound I-694 near Roseville is scheduled to close at 9 a.m. today (Monday, May 20) weather permitting. In a press staatment, MnDOT said the closure will enable road construction crews to rebuild the new alignments of westbound I-694 and westbound Highway 10. "Once the ramp is closed, the detour for both Ramsey County Road 96 and Lexington Avenue to reach westbound I-694 will be Lexington Avenue to Victoria Street to westbound I-694," MnDOT officials said. Detour signs will direct motorists when the ramp is closed. MnDOT expects to reopen the ramp, which is in Arden Hills, by this November.  For more information on the I-694 …

National Weather Service Issues Tornado Watch for Ramsey County

The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Sunday, May 19.

Following a morning of thunderstorms and hail in areas of the Twin Cities, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Ramsey County, including Roseville, this afternoon (Sunday, May 19). The tornado wath is in effect until 9 p.m. Sunday. The counties are also under a hazardous weather outlook, according to the Twin Cities National Weather Service. Thunderstorms with possible heavy rain are forecast throughout the night with the potential for high winds and hail.  The Twin Cities National Weather Service wrote: THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 105 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 70 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF REDWOOD FALLS MINNESOTA TO 25 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF WATERLOO IOWA.
