More Than 600 Students Going to Roseville High School 2013 Prom

Here's other facts about the annual spring social.

  More than 600 students are signed up to attend Roseville High School's 2013 prom which will be held Saturday (April 26) at the Prom Center in Oakdale.  Michael Flatten, the school's assistant to the activities director, shared some fun facts and statistics (as of Thursday afternoon) about the annual spring social: Students attending: 636 including  250 couples and 136 singletons. Prom theme:  "A Whole New World," which is the signature song from the Walt Disney movie "Aladdin." Prom hours and location: 8 to 11:45 p.m. at the Prom Center, 484 Inwood Ave N.  Oakdale.  Grand march: 4 p.m. Saturday at the high school gymnasium. Minnesota College Republicans Gathered at Northwestern College

About 150 delegates attended.

Northwestern College in Roseville played host Saturday to the Minnsota College Republicans State Convention.  Some 150 delegates elected new party officers and heard guest speakers. Isaac Schultz, a senior at Northwestern College and a Republican activist, said that holding the convention at Northwestern was a first for the college.

April's Fool: Another Half Foot of Snow Expected

The National Weather Service in Chanahssen has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of east and central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities. The storm is expected to hit Thursday night into Friday morning.

The second major snowfall in a little more than a week is expected to slam into the Twin Cities on Thursday night and drop up to six inches of fresh snow on the area by Friday morning, marking the second straight Friday residents here will wake up to white.  While last Thursday's snow totals came in under forecasted amounts, this storm is packing some moisture with it, and the Twin Cities area should see snow beginning Thursday night and extending into Friday.  That should create yet another difficult commute for Friday morning as well. Roseville Area Schools Foundation Fundraiser Today

Talent performances, games and food are among items to be featured at the festival.

  The Roseville Area Schools Foundation will hold its third annual fundraiser festival from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today (Saturday) at HarMar Mall,2100 N. Snelling Ave.   "This major fundraising event will feature the talents of many students from Roseville Area Schools, a silent auction, fun games, and the complimentary “Taste of HarMar” tour of restaurant food/beverage stations,'' according to event organizers.  Tickets are only $10 ($20 for an entire family), and proceeds from this special event will benefit the Roseville Area Schools Foundation, supporting educational excellence and innovation within District 623. Roseville Coaches Lauinger, Crosby Honored

Accolades come to Roseville High School girls basketball coaches.

Roseville School District 623 announced that two coaches at Roseville Area High School (RAHS) have been honored. Roseville Area High School girls basketball coach Scott Lauinger is Class 4A State Assistant Coach of the Year and Class 4A, Section 5 Coach of the Year.   Meanwhile, RAHS head coach Jeff Crosby is 4A, Section 5 Head Coach of the Year. The duo's honors come in the wake of the Raiders girls' basketball team having a stellar season. Their varsity team posted a regular season 24-2 total record  and 17-1 in the Suburban East Conference. The team was 2012-2013 Suburban East Conference champs. The Raiders team fell one game shy of earning a berth in the state high school tournament, losing to Osseo in the section 5 Class 4A finals…

Snow Forces Further Delays for Cedarholm Golf Course Opener

Club manager offers update on status of course.

Another week and more delays for the opening of Roseville's municipal golf course this spring. "Nothing like a April snowstorm, right!," said Roxann Maxey, clubhouse manager of Cedarholm Golf Course. "Now we're looking more like next week (for the course opening) since we haven’t had any days yet to bring any vehicles on the course for maintenance."   This year is a stark contrast to the spring of 2012. "We had alreadiy been open a few weeks(by this time) last year," Maxey said. Barring continuing inclement weather, the  city hopes to start its golf leagues by the fifth week of April.  Whenever Roseville kicks off its golf season, the municipal golf course will be offering more riding carts, increasing the number of them from six last year…
