Boy Scouts Troop 254 held its annual big yard sale fundraiser in the open-air canopy in the front of the Roseville Rainbow Foods, 1201 Larpenteur Ave. W. Items for sale included clothes, books, small furniture and household goods. The two-day event ended Friday (June 15). The troop is based out of Peace Lutheran Church in Lauderdale. Jerry Doherty, Troop 254 committee chair, said there are 28 boys in the troop.

Kevin Brooks earns top Boy Scout honor.
Roseville High School senior Kevin Brooks is scheduled today (Sunday) to receive Boy Scouting's highest honor, the Eagle Scout award. A ceremony honoring him is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Roseville Baptist Church, 211 West County Road B-2. Nationally, only an estimated four to five percent of all Boys Scouts earn the Eagle award. Brooks, 17, said that after he graduated from Cub Scouts into the Boy Scout program about five years ago, he decided to make getting the Eagle award his ultimate goal. For his Eagle project, Brooks put in a fire pit, patio and seating benches at Central Park - Victoria, just north of the tennis courts and shelter. Event called "Scout Out The Fun."
A "Scout Out the Fun Day," a free and fun way to learn about the Boy and Girl Scouts programs, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 10) at Roseville's Centrlal Park, Lexington Avenue and County Road C. Kids ages 5 and older will be able to try out more than 15 fun activities including games, disk golf, target sports and catapult firing, according to officials from the Northern Star Council of the Boy Scouts of America in St. Paul. There will be sampling of Dutch oven cooking. Information on joining and registration forms for Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts will be available.
