Naval Yard Shootings: A Minnesota Connection

Shoreview woman's sister-in-law among the victims.

The tragic Naval yard shootings Monday in Washington D.C. struck close to home for one Shoreview woman: Her sister-in-law was among the 13 people left dead in the onslaught, according to an Associated Press report carried by the Pioneer Press  today (Tuesday).
"Janet Hartsvet (of Shoreview) says Kathy Gaarde is among the 12 people killed Monday by a former Navy reservist who was slain in a gun battle with police. Hartsvet tells WCCO ( http://cbsloc.al/16argvl) that in addition to her brother, Kathy leaves behind two children—ages 26 and 33.
Hartsvet says her sister-in-law worked on military contracts at the Navy Yard and was approaching retirement."
